A musical tribute to Eleanor Dainton, who sadly went to the great away game in the sky on 3rd January 2026
As we were still getting our heads around taking down the 2025 calendar, we had to come to terms with the loss of Eleanor Dainton, a very dear friend of us here at Peppermint Iguana, someone we have shared many trips, laughs and tears with. Well, not many tears actually, she was an irrepressible bundle of fun.
This weeks show is dedicated to her memory. It features friends and family recalling some of the adventures they had with her, and reflecting on music that will remind them of her. Eleanor had incredibly eclectic taste, she just like a good tune. The show reflects this.
We would like to say a big thank you to those that helped us put the show together and apologies to those that came up with suggestions that we simply didn’t have room for. In a two hour show we obviously could only scratch the surface (in fact the show ended up overrunning by half an hour as it is). There are many more tunes out there and many more stories. Cae had suggested Shine On You Crazy Diamond, by Pink Floyd, which would have been a perfect way to end the show, and we have several Pink Floyd memories of Eleanor to share – but it’s twenty bloody six minutes long.
We hope this show will help some of you come to terms with it all. Putting it together had certainly helped us. But it is not all about us – and our hearts go out to Eleanor’s nearest and dearest – Gareth, Cae, Evan and Mia.
