DAVE BIMBLE STEPS BACK FROM SPORADICS

Bimble on the bass - keeping it real, up close and personal with the mob, as punk should be

The Sporadics have formally announed that bassist and founder member Dave Bimble is stepping away from the band for health reasons.

A post on the band’s social media stated:

It is with sadness that we have to announce that our co-founder, partner in crime, bass boss and, above all, friend Mr Bimble will be bowing out from the Sporadics.

The last year or so has seen our Dave battling with increasing levels of tinnitus at every show. Despite not letting it get him down, he has made a sensible decision not to risk more permanent life long damage, hence stepping down.

The last 10 years (yes 10!) have been a magnificent rollercoaster ride for Dave and myself and all the members of the band, past and present. Two old punk idiots who never thought they’d do a band again, (let alone a band that a few people actually seem to like!) have loved this journey and appreciated every high and low along the path together.

From dirty squats and tiny bars to festivals like Boomtown and iconic venues like the 100 club and the 1 in 12 we’ve built the band together, and that’s all of us and all of you lot who come to our shows. We know what a difficult decision this has been for Dave to take and respect it all the more for that.

We wish you every success for the future in everything you do Mr B. You will be sorely missed, both in your performances and in your tireless work for the band behind the scenes with merchandising, promotion and bookings.

As for the band, we intend to continue and complete our next album. It may take a while. Obviously Dave’s veggie boots will be very big ones to fill but we hope that we will do you justice old buddy!

We will do SOME shows this coming year and try to honour any bookings already made but expect a shorter list.

So that only leaves me to say thank you for the great times, sad to see you go mate and huge hugs, love and luck from those you leave behind.

Peace
WESTBOURNE

Here at Peppermint Iguana this comes as a blow, the Sporadics have been one of our favourite bands since we first stumbled upon them in a feild in Dorset a deade ago. They have produced two classic albums and had us dancing into the night on countless occasions.

Dave’s dubby bass lines have been at the heart of the band’s sound and will be difficult to replace, but we are sure there is enough talent left in the band to take us on to pastures new.

We wish both Bimble and the rest of the band well and hope to see them all in a field sometime soon.

WE SAID SEE YOU SOON BIMBLE – YA DEAF OLD BASTARD

Onwards and upwards
