The Peppermint Iguana Show on Jacs Radio on 31st August was a tribute to the legend that was Lee Scratch Perry.

We regularly play a track in memory of a musician that has gone to the great gig in the sky, but when news hit us that Lee Perry had shuffled off his mortal coil, it was never in doubt  that we would do a whole show dedicated to the man, the myth, the legend.

Lee Perry was the orignatior, he was there at the birth of reggae, he made Bob Marley, he was behind many of the reggae legends of the seventies, but he kept on going, working with the Clash, the Orb and The Beastie Boys, to name but a few.

As well as producing others, he released eighty albums in his own right and was still at it pretty much till he went to meet his maker as the ripe old age of eighty five, on Sunday 29th August 2021.

The Artist Formerly Known as Ginger John returned for this special one-off show. It’s not a definitive history of the man, you will find that done better elsewhere, this is our personal tribute. And it sounded like this:
