Expect a play list chock a block full of bands playing Merthyr Rising, the festival celebrating the workers uprising of 1831, at which the red flag was flown as a sign of protest the first time anywhere in the world.
So you can expect the likes of Dreadzone, Ruts DC, Regime, Roughneck Riot, Captain Ska, The Blockheads, Parkview, The Alarm and much more.
Captain Paranoid has branched out into the world of radio. And he is making a damn fine job of it.
Here is his second ‘Mind Your Head Radio Show’, broadcast live and direct from his cottage in the woods on the fringes of the South Wales Valleys. Its dirty, its sexy, its funky. If you like Peppermint Iguana radio – you will like this.
You can keep up to speed with his live broadcasts and stuff by going to his Facebook Page
You may have heard the Peppermint Iguana crew are getting back into promoting after a break of 14 years. First up, we are teaming up with the Green Gathering Campaigns Crew to put on a gig in Le Pub on the 10th February with a shed load of really cool artists, including the amazing Tarantism Folk Disco to finish the night off.
‘What be a folk disco?’ I hear you all you cry. Well, rest assured, it’s not a bloke in an Aron jumper playing Stealer’s Wheel records. It is Mel and Magnus from that Tarantism playing disco music in a folk style.
‘Who are Mel and Magnus?’ I hear less of you cry. For those of you not cool enough to know, Mel and Magnus are the Posh and Becks of the celtic-ska-punk-funk-dance scene and have been at the core of legendary festival band Tarantism for over twenty years now. In addition they gig as a duo, Magnus wears capes on stage with Hawkwind and as well as doing cheesy discos, Mel makes the finest vegan cheese this side of Vegania.
Still want to know more? Fear not, in the run up to our gig, Mel and Magnus are dropping into the Dapper FM studio to take over the Peppermint Iguana Radio show.
You can expect some of their own tunes, some unreleased tunes by other bands recorded in their Rockaway Studios – and no doubt many more treats for your heads hearts and feets.
Our 16th January show went down a storm, we had hippies in Cwmcarn dancing whilst pickling Beetroot, gig photographers in Surrey sat in their van and anarchists from Newport sat in their mother’s front room.
We also paid tribute to fallen stars, hot pre-releases and a preview of our gig in Le Pub on 10th February. Mel and Magnus of that Tarantism Folk Disco, who be playing that gig, will be dropping in to take over our next show on 30th January.

To help Dapper FM celebrate ten years on air, on 5th December we embarked on a three hour radio odyssey showcasing as many of our mates as we could.
No golden oldies or hidden gems just mates from the DIY underground. It was impossible to fit all of our mates on, so apologies for those that missed out. However, a few of those missing from the list can be found on our round up of 2017 show and there will be more on our festive knees up on 19th December.
Putting the play list together was quite humbling. We feel privileged to count so many damn fine creative musicians in our extended Iguana family. Our hats off to you all.

This ‘Selected highlights of 2017’ show is a bit unique, having been broadcast not once, but twice!
“How can that be?” we hear you cry. Well, it was first broadcast on Tuesday 28th November, but after the show finished we managed to break the station and loose the recording. Normally we would just shrug our shoulders and move on. But this was a reflection on some of the year’s best choonage with a rather splendid play list. So we decided to do the show again with the same play list.
On 21st November the legend that is Captain Paranoid joined Peppermint Iguana in the studio for a very special radio show.
Pick a few songs we said. The next thing we knew we had a massive thirty eight track play list and he could not make up his mind which ones to loose. He was even arguing with musicians he has collaborated with over which version of his own songs to play.
We were well over an hour into the show before we finally worked out what the play list was going to look like. But hey, this is what happens when working with people who are all consumed by music and are filled with passion and emotion. It was memorable. To say the least.
To listen to the show again click on the cloudcast below – and below that is what we think the play list was – even now it is hard to keep up with what went on!

On 21st November, legend of the Cardiff music scene, Chas, AKA Captain Paranoid, will be joining Peppermint Iguana on the decks for a mind bending special radio show.
Expect tales of The Terrorist Ballet Dancers from Hell, Captain Paranoid and the Delusions, Grass Roots Café, hanging out with The Alabama Three and who knows what else. All we need now is for Chas to whittle down his play list from 63 tunes to something a little more manageable.
Get it in your diary now, it’s gonna be mind-expanding.
Live on www.dapperfm.co.uk from 8pm o’clock on Tuesday 21st November. Expect the unexpected.
The October Revolution in Russia Kicked off 100 years ago this week – on 7th November 1917. As our next show goes out live on 7th November 2017, it would be rude to not run with a play list heavily laced with tunes that have a connection with Russia, revolutions and counter revolutions
Punk from Myanmar, spaced out psychedelic jams from Japan, tribal folk from Cameroon, Ska Punk from Netherlands, hard-core punk from Russia, Dub from France and stoner rock from Cardiff. All in a day’s work at Peppermint Iguana.
Yes, we were back swimming against the tide and beyond the mainstream once more on 24th October. To listen to the show again, check out the cloudcast below
On the 10th October we hit the hit the airwaves once more for a show full to overflowing with hot new releases, and demos.
Throughout the summer we have been concentrating on the UK festival scene, showcasing the bands playing the best of the underground gigs. But the season is finally over. Tents are now being stuffed into attics for the winter, lightweight caravans are being put in storage and hardcore trucks are heading for the sun.
So for this show we caught up with some of the demos and freebies we have had sent to us through the summer, but not got around to playing. Despite cocking up the advertising for the show, twice, forgetting to take our glasses into the studio and leaving the iguana phone back at HQ, it was a blast.
To listen again, check out the cloudcast below innit like
Watch out for our next show, which will be an end of festival season party – with guest host Gail Something Else – who will be along to talk about this year’s Something Else in the Dean Festival, which will close the season in style.
This week’s Peppermint Iguana Radio Show will feature the cream of the underground festival scene.
With the first ever Feral Fest coming up over the weekend of 1/2/3 September, and Common Ground 2017 the same weekend, the show will be overflowing with some of our favourite festival bands.
Expect Tribazic, Tribe of Cro, P.A.I.N., Radical Dance Faction, The Sporadics and Dub the Earth to turn up at some point during the show.
Yes, that’s right, the Sporadics. They will be hitting the road again shortly with not one but TWO new guitarists. We can’t F@ckin’ wait.
We are going to have to hold a few of our favourites back though, cos Something Else in the Dean will be bringing the season to close at the end of September – we are already planning our end of season show in anticipation.
Festivals aint the only things happening though – so you can expect a preview of hot gigs coming up with Back to the Planet, Senser and Ruts DC, alongside new releases from Steven Wilson, Blue Forest and Jinx in dub.
All this festival loveliness can be listened to live by going to www.dapperfm.co.uk from 8pm on Tuesday 29 August.
